Background:
Neurturin (NRTN) is a potent neurotrophic factor.1 NRTN supports the survival of cultured sympathetic neurons and sensory neurons of the nodose and dorsal root ganglia. Neurturin is structurally related to GDNF (Glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor).2 NRTN has been demonstrated to act specifically on mesencephalic dopaminergic neurons, suggesting its therapeutic potential for Parkinsons disease (PD).3

Biological Activity
The biological activity of Human NRTN was determined by its ability to support survival of a majority of newborn Rat Sympathetic neurons at a concentration of 100 ng/ml.
Each investigator should determine their own optimal working dilution for specific applications.
