Description
Specificity:
Rabbit Anti-Human ZIPK recognizes an epitope in the intermediate domain of Human, Mouse and Rat ZIPK. This polyclonal antibody was purified using affinity chromatography.

Background:
Apoptosis is mediated by death domain containing adapter molecules and a caspase family of proteases. Certain serine/threonine protein kinases, such as ASK-1 and RIP, are mediators of apoptosis. A novel serine/threonine kinase that mediates apoptosis was recently identified and designated ZIP kinase. ZIP kinase contains an N-terminal kinase domain and a C-terminal leucine zipper structure and binds to ATF4 that is a member of ATF/CREB family. ZIP kinase has high sequence homology to DAP kinase (death-associated protein kinase), which is a mediator of apoptosis induced by γ interferon. Overexpression of ZIP kinase induces apoptosis. ZIP and DAP kinases represent a novel kinase family, which mediates apoptosis through their catalytic activities. The messenger RNA was ubiquitously expressed in various tissues.

Formulation
This polyclonal antibody is formulated in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.4 containing 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative.
Storage and Stability
This polyclonal antibody is stable for at least one week when stored at 2-8°C. For long term storage, aliquot in working volumes without diluting and store at –20°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.

Western Blotting: This antibody can be used to detect Human, Mouse and Rat ZIPK by Western blot analysis at a concentration of 1:500-1:1000 µg/ml when used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, such as Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H&L)-Horseradish Peroxidase (Leinco Prod. No.: R1190), under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. The positive controls for Western blotting are Human Spleen Tissue Lysate (Leinco Prod. No.: H1410) and THP-1 Whole Cell Lysate (Leinco Prod. No.: T206).
