Specificity:
Rabbit Anti-Human Interleukin-31 (IL-31) recognizes an epitope in the intermediate domain of Human and Mouse IL-31. This polyclonal antibody was purified using affinity chromatography.
Background:
Interleukin-31 (IL-31) is a T-cell cytokine, which is preferentially produced by type 2 helper T cells. The structure of IL-31 places it in the IL-6 family of cytokines. IL-31 signals via a receptor complex that is composed of IL-31 receptor A and oncostatin M receptor subunits. IL-31 is believed to play a role in inflammation of the skin.1 IL-31 represents a novel target for antipruritic drug development.2

Formulation
This polyclonal antibody is formulated in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.4 containing 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative.
Storage and Stability
This polyclonal antibody is stable for at least one week when stored at 2-8°C. For long term storage, aliquot in working volumes without diluting and store at –20°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.

Western Blotting: To detect Human IL-31 this polyclonal antibody can be used at a concentration of 5.0 µg/ml. This polyclonal antibody should be used in conjunction with compatible second-step reagents such as Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H&L)-Horseradish Peroxidase (Leinco Prod. No.: R1190) and a chromogenic substrate such as TMB HRPO Membrane/IHC Substrate UltraSensitive™ One Component "Ready Use" (Leinco Prod. No.: T343). The sensitivity of detection may increase up to 50 fold when a chemiluminescent substrate is used.
