Description
Specificity:
Rabbit Anti-Human β-Amyloid Precursor Protein (APP) recognizes an epitope near the N-terminus of AB of Human, Mouse and Rat APP. This polyclonal antibody was purified using affinity chromatography.

Background:
Accumulation of the amyloid-β peptide (αβ) in the cerebral cortex is a critical event in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. The b-amyloid protein precursor (APP) is cleaved by β-secretase, producing a soluble derivative of the protein and a membrane anchored 99-amino acid carboxy-terminal fragment (C99). The C99 fragment serves as substrate for g-secretase to generate the 4 kDa amyloid-b peptide (αβ), which is deposited in the brains of all suffers of Alzheimer's disease.

Formulation
This polyclonal antibody is formulated in phosphate buffered saline (PBS) pH 7.4 containing 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative.
Storage and Stability
This polyclonal antibody is stable for at least one week when stored at 2-8°C. For long term storage, aliquot in working volumes without diluting and store at –20°C in a manual defrost freezer. Avoid Repeated Freeze Thaw Cycles.

Western Blotting: This antibody can be used to detect Human, Mouse and Rat APP by Western blot analysis at a concentration of 0.5-1.0 µg/ml when used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, such as Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG (H&L)-Horseradish Peroxidase (Leinco Prod. No.: R1190), under either reducing or non-reducing conditions. The positive control for Western blotting is Mouse Brain Tissue Lysate (Leinco Prod. No.: M1015).
