Description
Specificity:
Anti-Protein Kinase C (PKC) recognizes the intact (Mr 79-80 kDa) calcium-activated, phospholipid-dependent Protein Kinase C in bovine brain. The antibody strongly cross-reacts with PKC in human, mouse and rat cells.1 Anti-PKC (clone MC5) binds to an epitope at the hinge region of the enzyme, the site of phorbol-ester-induced proteolysis which is thought to down-regulate PKC activity in intact cells.1,2 Monoclonal MC5 reacts with PKC-α/ß1/ß2 isoforms.
Background:
Anti-PKC-Biotin (clone MC5) may be used to block both proteolysis and down-regulation of PKC activity. The antibody reacts with the intact molecule and may be used to localize PKC activity and to study the role of proteolysis in the activation of the Protein Kinase C pathway.
