Contents:
The product consists of Protein-G affinity-purified mouse monoclonal antibodies against vitellogenin from Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar). The antibodies are dissolved in 0.1 M Na-phosphate, 0.15 M NaCl, 1% BSA, 0.1% Na-azide, pH 7.4.

Immunogen source:
Vitellogenin purified from plasma of 17ß-estradiol induced Atlantic salmon .

Specificity: 
BN-5 binds with high affinity to vitellogenin in plasma samples from Atlantic salmon. The antibody cross-reacts with vitellogenin in plasma samples from brown trout (Salmo trutta), rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus), wrasse (Ctenolabrus rupestris), turbot (Scophthalmus maximus), flounder (Platichthys flesus) and halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus), but not with vitellogenin from Atlantic cod (Gadus morhua). The degree of cross-reactivity differ between species and with the different methods employed.

Applications: 
BN-5 is very well suited for ELISA. The antibody may also work in immunoblotting for some fish species, but the affinity for vitellogenin is much lower when this method is used. Since assay conditions vary, the optimum dilution should be determined for each particular application. Note: The antibody is dissolved in a buffer containing BSA, and is therefore not recommended to use for coating.
